OK, maybe 4: that’s the exact number of days since my last post on this blog. So what happened in those 4 measly days, I (think I) hear you ask? Well…
As previously discussed, I kept switching from project A to B to an actual C: the thing is I keep saying ‘yes’ to interesting things, and then end up having to, well, do said things. I’m not complaining (I mean, not entirely), because they are indeed worth it, only the combination/concentration is a bit of a challenge. I like challenges, but I also like sleep;
After my quick chat with a startup friend last week, I also saw: my brother, who was just coming back from Moscow (so we had to reminisce about the good old days when we drank vodka and — thus — didn’t fear the cold), plus a couple of friends (as in two separate sets of friends) with young children (5 month and 6 week-old respectively, all in a day’s work too, although we didn’t stay for the sleepless nights);
My brother again for what was to be my second (extra small) triathlon on Sunday, but I (officially) hurt my right knee (or is it my left?) and therefore ended up filming the event instead, in which my fiancée and brother did take part. Not entirely surprisingly, my fiancée did fine in there, although she was in attendance when we saw friends and children the day (and evening) before and had had as little to sleep as I did. The only difference is — it takes less strength to hold a camera than to run a triathlon. Who would have thought, right? Meanwhile, my brother didn’t fare as well, but that’s another story, one which he might not feel entirely comfortable with, so I’ll leave it at that — for now;
That same Sunday, we flew to Berlin because my fiancée was coming for a (very serious) conference while I was originally supposed to sleep in, but ended up conveniently working on projects A through C from our incredibly comfortable airbnb, which featured not one but two cats! Needless to say — it was harder for me to focus than at home: we only have the one cat, you see…
We also saw a couple of friends in Berlin — so far — and plan to see a couple more, because you just have to: the weather is (finally) nice outside, or rather nice enough for a stroll (for us) and/or eat outdoors (for Berliners, who will typically only wear a light sweater in 8°C weather), and the people we know here are nice too, so it doesn’t quite feel like an obligation. Except for that one friend, but I won’t say who.
Good times. Less sleep.
