It’s been a while since I last wrote here, because I’ve been a little busy, working on new projects, weighing the pros and cons of making this blog evolve into something else, quitting altogether (always a possibility, that many will probably find to be fairly sound)… also I was lazy.
Since I last posted anything, I had to quit working out because I hurt my shoulder because I went a little overboard before Christmas (as one does, at least I do), I actually did work rather consistently (as one does, but usually not me), we went to Lyon for Christmas (and biked up the biggest hill in the city, because my fiancée said it was “not that far up”)… also I’m in New York right now.
For years, it’s been a dream of mine to come to New York for new year’s, get to see the snow in Central Park, walk around Manhattan with a coffee in my hand — and gloves underneath — check out the ice rink at Rockefeller Center (didn’t say I would actually skate: I’m not a daredevil), go to Times Square for the new year countdown… Actually, it’s been 13 years since I last came to town period, so that’s an event in itself no matter how you look at it (for me, obviously: no one else noticed I was gone).
So we are indeed in New York and it’s amazing, and I’m f*****g thrilled to be back, and we are walking around town, although only in Brooklyn and Queens so far because my fiancée has a plan and we’re going from East to West over the next 10 days (I assume). So we haven’t seen Manhattan (if only in a distance), or Central Park, or Rockefeller Center yet (we actually haven’t seen most of Brooklyn either and it’s already been 2 days). Also, we’re going to see a drag show tonight for new year’s eve, instead of going to Times Square because a) everyone tells us the place gets ridiculously crowded, b) I’ve never seen a drag show and it seems so much more fun than standing in the cold for hours — at my age.
Finally, and that’s the big one… no snow. Better luck next year.
